Joe Duff, aka the Diet Chef on YouTube, makes videos explaining how people who follow the keto-diet can find high-fat, low carb food at chain restaurants and stores. In one video, Duff shows how you can even find keto snacks at your local drugstore.
Duff stopped at a CVS to seek out foods that wouldn’t knock him out of ketosis, or fat burning mode. And it was easy to find snacks that fit his high-fat lifestyle at the chain store. Duff likes Gold Emblem brand macadamia nuts which contain just two ingredients: nuts and salt. Macadamia nuts are particularly good for keto dieters with 21 grams of fat and only 4 grams of carbs. He also scooped up Whisps cheese snacks, sunflower seeds, and a variety of jerky.
But CVS also has options for quick and easy meals. Duff was surprised to find Chicken of the Sea Infusion cups, which he’s never seen at any other store. The tuna cups come in a variety of flavors like sundried tomato and contain 22 grams of protein and no carbs. Another easy meal available at CVS are Real Good enchiladas. The frozen entrees can be quickly heated in the microwave and only have four grams of carbs.
Duff also highlights some sugar-free products that seem like good options but aren’t keto-friendly because of their significant carb count. Of course, you’ll want to read the nutrition label of packaged foods to make sure the item fits in your particular diet.
